The Springbok Project is a district-scale hard rock lithium project in the Northern Cape of South Africa — roughly 80 km north of the town of Springbok and directly south of the Orange River, near the Namibian border. It is anchored by the past-producing Norrabees lithium pegmatite mine, an associated stockpile, and a 1,675 km² land package that opens up significant regional exploration potential.
Springbok is the anchor of Lithium Africa’s capital-light model. It pairs near-term, non-dilutive funding optionality — a permitted starter resource and an existing 30,000-tonne stockpile now in a sale process — with district-scale discovery upside across a 50+ km pegmatite field. An ongoing 3,500 m DD and RC program aims to define a new mineral resource at Norrabees and highlight other key pegmatites for regional scalability.

Springbok sits within the Orange River / Namaqualand pegmatite belt — a swarm of lithium-cesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites extending more than 50 km across the project. Forty spodumene-bearing pegmatites are already known (~30 of which were discovered recently by Lithium Africa), yet only two have ever been drill-tested, leaving the great majority of the district untested. Spodumene is hosted in coarse-grained pegmatites with mapped widths typically in the ~5–15 m range; the past-producing Norrabees pegmatite and its stockpile confirm economic-grade spodumene on the property.
In scale and single-owner consolidation, Lithium Africa likens the district to Brazil’s “Lithium Valley,” where more than 250 Mt of resources and over US$2 billion of market value are spread across five separate companies — at Springbok, the equivalent district is held under one license.
